“Internal Melody” is the debut album by Krzysztof Lenczowski, cello player from leading polish jazz group – Atom String Quartet. The CD contains compositions remaining in the spirit of European improvised music, deep in a dark, organic sound of the band. Apart from the leader the musicians are: Grzech Piotrowski on saxophone, Jan Smoczyński on Hammond organ and Tomasz Waldowski on drums. We can hear long, open interactions which contrast with purely closed forms as directly taken from electronic scene of music. The “Internal Melody” album is an attempt of looking at the cello as an integral member of a jazz band, with equal rights. The album does not contain any electronic effects, only acoustic sounds of living instruments. This is the first Polish CD which is signed by the name of a jazz cellist.
